The Story.

On May 18, 2008, Greg was mowing a hill near his house on his Farmall tractor when it suddenly began to tip and roll over. He tried to jump clear, but was pinned under the tractor. Incredibly, a neighbor and her boyfriend witnessed the accident, lifted the tractor enough to pull him free, and saved his life.

Unfortunately, the injuries Greg sustained were severe – several broken vertebrae, a dislocated pelvis, fractured ribs and a fractured sternum. He underwent more than 10 hours of surgery to repair his back and pelvis. For the last two weeks, he’s battled incredible pain and started the healing process. All of the doctors treating him say he is a very lucky man – that he is alive and sustained no spinal cord injuries.

As many of you are aware, Greg has always worked with his hands. For more than half of his life, he farmed. About 20 years ago, he transitioned into construction. He has worked in construction since then, most recently moving equipment from one job site to another for a company called Herzog. He really loves his job.

His prognosis is good, but he will be unable to work for a year. This is putting incredible strain on his family. Copays, prescriptions, a wheelchair, and deductibles will all have to be paid on one salary. His family is extremely grateful he’s alive and doing better every day, but worried about tackling the next 12 months.
